The new Secretary General of the Council of Europe will be elected by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in June, APA reports quoting Kommersant newspaper.
The process of nomination of the candidates was finalized on March 6. Former Polish Prime Minister Vlodzimej Tymoshevic, former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjorn Jagland, former Head of the Flanders Government (Belgium) Luke van den Brande and member of the Hungarian Parliament Matias Jorshin were nominated for the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. The Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe will introduce two of three of the candidates to PACE.
Current Secretary General Terry Davis was elected in June, 2004.
